Bret Stout - Creative Director

As the lead contact for all Huge Advertising projects, Bret Stout has extensive experience directing large teams of writers and designers. He oversees all design and production of both the offline and online divisions of Huge Advertising.

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Southern California, he grew up entrenched in the wonder of Walt Disney. His elementary school, Walter Knott Elementary, was located on the same property as Knott's Berry Farm and across the street from Aligator Farm. Surrounded daily by things that most children only dream about, he quickly established the mindset that he could do anything he set his mind to -- and he wanted to be a cartoon illustrator. And he never gave up this dream. He is an accomplished writer and artist – including paintings and cartoon to photorealistic illustration. He has had numerous published works and wrote his first broadcast television commercial at the age of 21, Southwestern Bell’s “ET Phones Home - Reach Out and Touch Someone”.

He is the former Owner and Curator of the Stout-McCourt Gallery in Dallas, Texas where he was the 1993 Recipient of the Multi-Ethnic Heritage Foundation Cultural Philanthropy Award (nominees included EDS and JCPenney).

This former Vice President of the Dallas Art Dealers Association has been featured in many publications including, Dallas Morning News (DMN) High Profile three (3) times (including “Stout Offerings”), DMN’s Today Section, and The Dallas Observer two (2) times. He has also been highlighted on the radio station WRR 101.1.

Graduating from SMU with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, he effectively orchestrates his team of online and offline professionals with a clear understanding of how the right business process dictates a successful advertising campaign.

In 1991 he was featured in DMN’s High Profile “Our Man In Saudi” when he was activated from the United States Marine Corps Reserve and served in Desert Storm for 8 months. Mr. Stout is a Combat-Decorated Marine Corps Veteran with three Medals and five Ribbons. Activated from the Reserves, he had seven days to organize his gallery staff to run the gallery during his absence and the gallery successfully remained open. He served as a Sergeant in charge of a Marine Corps howitzer squad with the 2nd Marine Division, 10th Marines leading attacks on Suddam’s Republican Guard positions throughout Kuwait. He is not your typical stereotype of 'military' guy. His involvement in the Marines Corps and the War was voluntary and taught him how to lead a team in combat – developing and implementing life-and-death battle strategies in combat situations.

Mr. Stout is also a former Board Member of the Arts & Business Board of Northwood University.

He is also the Director of KeepChildrenSafe.org, a 501c3 that promotes child safety education to children ages 4 to 12. Mr. Stout is the writer and illustrator of “A Zone of My Own”, a complete guide to child safety that teaches children a new way to view the world around them.

Mr. Stout designs custom apparel for clients including Harley-Davidson, Mercedes, XBox, and has designed uniform programs for DirecTV, Rio Casino, Frontier Airlines, among many others. He recently concepted and developed Target’s “Bullseye Brand”, a cool retail apparel line that will be sold in their stores as their ‘private label’.

He is 44 and lives in Fort Worth, Texas. He and his wife Sarah are the parents of six children.
